Miriam Fields-Babineau
Ms. Fields-Babineau is a pet professional, book author, content writer and owner of a pet resort. She has been a professional author since 1986, writing articles for pet care and training periodicals, newspaper articles and columns, and 48 published books for publishers including John Wiley and Sons, Publishing, Barron’s Educational Series, BowTie Press, Kennel Club Books, Penguin U.S.A., TFH Publishing, Howell Book House, and others. Her content work includes projects for Yahoo!, dog.com, horse.com, doghealth.com, cathealth.com, vetstreet.com, i4Cinnovations.com, SiiPet.com and more.
Ms. Fields-Babineau has provided trained animals for media productions since 1983 for advertisements, television programs, commercials, and movies such as War of the Worlds, The Replacements, and Navy Seals. Commercial clients include Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic, Family Channel, History Channel, NBC and CBS.
Since 2003, she has trained dogs to be service animals for people who are deaf, disabled, or emotionally challenged. She helps them find the right dog for their needs, then raises and trains it until it can be handled by the pet parent. Finally, working with both dog and new pet parent together to insure a good working relationship. The dogs for these jobs have ranged from Jack Russell Terrier to the typical assistance breeds – Shepherds, Labrador Retrievers, Dobermans, Golden Retrievers and Doodle Dogs.
In 2000, Ms. Fields-Babineau created a line of positive reinforcement dog training tools for dogs who have high reactivity and behavioral disorders. Many humane societies, assistance dog organizations and professional trainers use and sell her products worldwide.
