Watch The Sighting:

Around 500 to 600 black bears live in Yellowstone National Park. While black bears are less aggressive and smaller than grizzlies, they are just as fascinating.

The duo of black bear cubs touched Judy’s heart with their jovial antics.

Mother Bear Emerges With Cubs In Tow

Judy’s video is mostly focused on the two cubs, however, the mother bear does make an appearance, and what a beauty she is! Adult male black bears can weigh up to 142 kg, and adult females, up to 90 kg.

She strolls regally through the forest area, her little ones with her, but relatively hidden from sight.

This mother has two cubs. A mother bear will typically give birth to one to three cubs, usually during the winter period, which is between mid-January to mid-February.

The cubs will stay with their mother from one to three years. During this time, she will teach them how to live and survive in the wild.

However, this mother’s cubs are still relatively young, and what a handful they are! Judy explains that the scenes of the cubs playing have been filmed while the mother is nearby, foraging for food.

With Mom busy, the cubs adopt a certain bravado and explore their surroundings with whole-hearted enthusiasm.

Black bears inhabit forested areas. They are excellent climbers, as these two little ones demonstrate. They climb everything, including rock faces and trees.

At times, they tumble over, still trying to find their feet. Other times, they wrestle in the grass with one another. This mother bear has her paws full!

Black bears are known for their curiosity, and these two cubs demonstrate this nature. They are into everything, taking in the sights and smells of their surroundings with all the wonder and zeal of youth.

Their amazing climbing ability is on full display as they scale a rocky outcrop. At times they tumble down, however, they are very resilient and get back up to climb again.

It’s then back onto the grass, and they wrestle like real champions.

No doubt, the mother bear is close by, keeping a watchful eye on them. Playing is good for cubs, as through it they learn many valuable skills.

After some time wrestling in the grass, they lift their heads and look into the distance, before running forward. Possibly Mom has finished eating for the day, and it’s time to move on.

Black bears are the most common type of bear in North America. They can be found right across the continent, from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean.

About 85 percent of their diet is plant-based. They also eat fish and insects, as well as small animals. They are also highly intelligent, as these two cubs demonstrated through their interaction.

A newborn black bear cub is said to be about the size of a can of soda! However, thanks to Mom’s milk, they will grow quite quickly. Their mother will teach them to forage and survive in the wild until they are ready to begin life as independent adults.

For now, they are quite happy to lead relatively carefree lives under their mother’s supervision and care.
