These birds aren’t quite endangered yet, but they are somewhat rare to come across in the wild. Some of the gorgeous pelicans manage to grab onto one of the ‘flying’ fish. Pelicans generally feed on fish such as carp, perch, and eels. They might also eat small amphibians, crustaceans, and other aquatic organisms. A small fight breaks out among the pelicans as they argue over who gets to eat the tasty fish provided. Generally, the more dominant and in-charge pelican will receive the food. The pod of Dalmatian pelicans looks to the sky for any more soaring fish. Humans often spend time feeding pelicans as a nature-watching experience. “The brief of pelicans is disappointed at the lack of fish, hanging their heads. These birds generally eat 1-4 pounds of fish a day each, so searching for food is a big deal. Dalmatian pelicans are stunning to look at. Their rarity makes them even more appealing to spot in the wild. The squadron of pelicans scrambles together as another fish comes flying their way. One lucky pelican manages to catch the food in its mouth. Even more chaos ensues as the pelicans squabble over who gets the new fish. These arguments are mostly harmless, as pelicans are peaceful creatures. The pod of pelicans relaxes as they realize no more food is coming their way. A few begin to scatter, onto new adventures.
