“We had just parked our car at the small waterhole, excited about the wildlife that might come down for a drink. Little did we know what had just transpired seconds before we arrived. Observing the water closely, some bubbles and ripples caught our attention.”
“A crocodile! The waterhole seemed a little small, but this reptile was here for a reason. In its mouth, he had caught an Egyptian goose. We were shocked, as we knew crocodiles to be fish and small antelope eaters, not geese!”
The Egyptian Goose is a common bird species known for its stunning appearance and loud honking calls. They are often seen at waterholes around the Kruger National Park.

“The crocodile paraded around the water with his prize for a few moments. Once he was satisfied that the bird was dead, in one huge gulp, he swallowed the bird whole!
Normally crocodiles will need to rip pieces of their prey to be able to eat them, but the bird being just a snack, he was able to swallow it whole.”
