The Setting of The Sighting
African elephants are always amazing to see, but because of their very healthy population in Kruger, tourists can start to overlook them. However, when Pnina Spinner and her family saw these three making their way to the road, they decided to stay and enjoy the moment, and they were rewarded with this incredible sighting!
Finding Elephants
After an incredible morning safari, Pnina and her family were making their way back to camp on one of the main tar roads in the southern part of the park for a quick brunch. As the day grew hotter, the sightings started to become quieter, but that all changed when they spotted three elephants off the road.
It didn’t seem like much, and everyone was certain that the elephants would simply make their way deeper into the bush. But, the family wasn’t in a rush, so they decided to stay and enjoy what they could see. It came as a surprise to everyone when all three elephants decided to come out onto the road!
Why the Elephants Were on The Road
The trees on the other side of the road must have looked greener because that’s what initially drew the elephants out. It didn’t take long for two of them to become distracted though, and before they could even make it to the other trees, their attention turned to fun and games.
Playful Elephants
Elephants have strong, complex social behaviors and are known to goof around with one another on occasion. But this almost looked choreographed! They took turns stretching like domestic house cats and flapping their ears at one another in the most entertaining way!
Seeing such big, majestic animals become so clumsy and playful is incredibly amusing. Everyone watching from the car was loving it, especially the little ones in the back. It was so perfect that everyone was saying it felt just like a circus routine.
The fun didn’t last for too long, these elephants still had lots of eating to do after all. But it wasn’t over before they happily trotted away, creating the perfect ending, to a fantastic sighting!
