Book a Safari to the Kruger National Park for an Oppurtunity to Spot a Pangolin

What’s a Pangolin Anyway?

Pangolins are these adorable, shy creatures that look like walking pinecones. They’re often mistaken for reptiles but are actually mammals covered in scales. And nope, they’re not related to armadillos—they are actually their own independent species.

Pangolin 101

Did you know there are several species of pangolins just in Africa? Each one is more fascinating than the last, and they play a super important role in our ecosystems by controlling insect populations.

A Pangolin Encounter: Do’s and Definitely Don’ts

Now, imagine you’re out in the wild and you spot a pangolin (lucky you!). These animals can be super shy and might curl up into a ball when scared. Our first instinct might be to get closer, maybe snap a selfie, but that’s a big no-no. Staying at least 10 meters away is the way to go, and if there’s a cute little pangolin pup, double that distance.

Why Does It Matter?

Disturbing these animals can cause them to leave their homes, and they might struggle to find food or bump into other pangolins’ territories. Keeping our distance ensures they stay wild and free.
