Drinking giraffes are always an exquisite sight to see! This giraffe, however, was even more extraordinary, due to the fact that it can never properly drink because water keeps falling out! This unbelievable sighting happened on the Kapama Private Game Reserve in the Greater Kruger.
28-Year old field guide, Eben Rhode was fortunate to witness this absolutely insane moment and shared the story with LatestSightings.com:
“On this specific afternoon, we were actually awaiting a pride of lions at this water hole. They did not show, but instead, this male giraffe graced us with his beauty. At first, nothing seemed unusual as dominant bulls would move alone for the most part of their lives. So we decided to spend time with a drinking giraffe which would later become such a special and rare once-in-a-lifetime moment for us.”
“Emotions were running high as we didn’t know whether to be sad or just observe nature at that moment. We couldn’t believe that an animal that must be in so much pain, still has the power and resilience to fight and survive after getting dealt a blow in life.”
